****Warning**** Any of the information contained within this thread can potentially harm your GPS unit. Use extreme caution and remember to only make one change at a time to your unit in case something goes wrong, then you can more easily fix it.The information following and subsequent posts to this thread will contain little GPS hints, hacks, tricks, secrets, and general trivia. Please use caution with any change to your GPS as wrong input can lead to having to wipe a unit or worse. Enjoy playing with your GPS. Hard Reset:This wipes out all data in your GPS and returns it to the original factory settings. These are for Garmin units, I will put up information in the future for Maggies. You will need to input various key combinations to perform GPS secret functions. - eTrex with a click-stick: hold the PAGE button down while holding the click-stick down and powering on the unit
- eTrex without a click-stick: hold the UP and ENTER keys and press the POWER button
- GPS 60 & 76 series: hold down ENTER and the PAGE buttons and power the unit on
- GPS 76S: Hold the DOWN button while powering up the unit
This is a hard reset or a master reset. More will be added in the future. If you have a model you would like included in these threads let me know and I will try and learn about that unit and add it to the list.

I have a Magellan Meridian Color GPS and it stopped receiving a Satellite signal when my better half took it hunting with him. Haven't been able to get it to work since. If you know of a reset for this model I'd be willing to try it since nothing else has worked. Thanks!!!!!

Remember; after every change made to the GPS it will have download a full almanac from the GPS satellites. Make sure and place the unit where it will get good reception and can be left alone for 15 to 25 minutes while this process takes place. If the unit is WASS capable this will take even longer as it must download the WAAS almanac as well. You will have to change your time settings afterwards as they will have reset to UTC (or GMT). You will need to reload time zone information, daylight saving information, coordinate format, battery type, and all waypoints and routes.

I didn't know the hard-reset on the pre-thumb stick eTrex series.
Wait a minute... are you using the internet for useful information and not just on-line gaming? ::looks suspiciously at Greg::
