The following information is in the Fair Play cache (GC14AEF) that should be posted within a day or 2. It took quite a bit of negotiating and discussion with Groundspeak and the Alaska State Fair to create these games and to 'promote' them through a permanent non-commercial cache. Since everything is now approved, I can now post this information in the forums. Spread the word. Cache on.
BTW, special apologies to Mrs. SantaBro. I can't help myself.
Fair Play by Nate grumby and The Mrs., Homunculus, Yami Tatsu, and Ki-La-La
For those of us (perhaps 650,000 each year) who wish to enter the Alaska State Fair (August 23 to September 3) we have set up some geocaching games and challenges! Thanks to the Alaska State Fair for granting permission to place these caches on their grounds. Fair admission is required to enter the Alaska State Fair, but think of the food, games, the midway, giant cabbages, pony rides, the art exhibits, shopping, and now geocaching that we can all have fun doing!
The geocaching games that we have designed on the grounds of the Alaska State Fair include:
Ki-La-La's "Puzzling Caches"
A series of virtual caches where you have to find where Ki-La-La is and log the coordinates via Geocaching.com to Nate Grumby to verify your finds!
Homunculus's "Knights of Ni Shrubbery Challenge"
A multi-cache chase through the various gardens on the fair grounds, leading to a cache large enough for trade items and prizes!
Yami-Tatsu's "I AM NINJA" Caches
A collection of micro-caches hidden in plain sight. Can you retrieve a cache without being seen while tens of thousands of people walk past you? Test your Ninja skills!
So What Are The Coordinates To These Hidden Caches?
As some of you may realize, Nate Grumby is an individual with a weird sense of humor. So he, with the help (and restraint) of The Mrs., has hidden the location to these various fair caches within the actual exhibits at Irwin Hall. Look for crafts, photos, paintings, and sculpture that have the coordinates embedded or displayed within them.
Please log your comments, photos, and other observations online on geocaching.com at the Fair Play (GC14AEF) cache.

Hi Nate, I think this is wonderful that you have hidden all these caches at the fair, gotten permission and all, it will add a new dimension to the fair. I was really looking forward to working on them. But, ok, I will be the one to say it, you mean we have to do more work just to find the coordinates, we have to read things? - hmmmm..... Guess I better look before the sluice box. I will check it out though. Thanks for all your hard work.

What a great idea. Although I love the fair, and have visited it every year since I was a child, the older I get, the less interesting it seems to be. Now I have a new excuse to go! Thank You!

Our group is very excited about the FAIR PLAY game. Catiebug is looking up the fairgrounds on the net to get a head start so she can lead us in the right directions!
Thanks Nate, family and friends.

I think geocaching at the Fair is brilliant! I usually go to eat tasty food and see the animals. Now I have another purpose while there. I always look forward to going to the Fair. More so now!! Thanks!!!! Nate!!!!!

Does anyone want to do this one as a group? I grew up with horses and we would take them to the fair each year. We would stay there for almost the whole run in tents and motorhomes. I also worked in Palmer and the State fair was a client (back when they would give free passes) so I would go almost every day. I have had my fill of the Fair but the fact I could meet up with cachers and eat all the food would be awesome. Thanks for the hard work Nate, it should be a lot of fun. Just an idea

You know if we get a big enough group we will be able to conceal the cache retrieval by surrounding the suspected cache and looking lost. Hmmm...

I think I am going to need a group and a support group, especially after visiting Silver Fern for the second dnf. More eyes are better than just one set - Sounds like fun.

Hi Nate and The Mrs. Love your caches as you know by my posts. Thank you for your sense of humor. This is a great idea. I hope we can go and have some fun on these and hopefully we can join the group. Usually working when everyone else gets together. We will be going to pick up fair Play soon and will be watching for the logs on it for whoever goes to the fair caches. Mrs. SantaBro said she would let me open this one, LOL. Thanks for yourhard work.

Count me in! I'd love to join the group hunt. What a fun addition to eating and looking at the animals and the quilts and more eating. Did I mention eating? I LOVE fair food!

Well I haven't been to the fair in about 4 years because I am always out hunting other things that I put in my freezer. So if I get something early I may be able to tag along. Thanks for the great idea Nate!

ok, so when you say eat, you mean eat fair food, like drumsticks, pizza, cotton candy, candy apples, etc. etc........ ?? that would work. Not sure about HPass, but the fair would be good.

Sounds like fun. We are spending Friday night at the fair and had planned on caching in the valley on Saturday, so we are in. Or at least I am in and still working on akteamroper. We just did Fair Play a few days ago.

Sounds like the only day we can make it to the fair is going to be on Sunday. Mrs. SantaBro is still trying to figure out how to make it with a broken ankle. She can't walk on crutches, per her arthritis and a walker didn't work either. I told her we could put her in a wheel chair, but she doesn't like that idea either. She will not be moving around very fast so i guess we will go on Sunday and not hold up the group. Cache N Stash, Cache N Release, Cache Critter and maybe AKWhodini might tag along with us for awhile on that day. Hope to run into a few of you out there. Mrs. SantaBro said she was going to try and find a couple of your fair caches anyway Nate even if it does mean a wheel chair if nothing else goes wrong. Happy caching everyone.

I'll be there @ 10am. From past experience it is better to get out early to avoid the traffic and all the lines. But then we always get tickets before getting out there as the ticket lins are usually really long. So stop by and grab them tonight.
