Interior Cachers
Update: Aug 5, 2007
Our Fall Event date has been set for September 8 at the Birch Hill complex in Fairbanks from 1:00 - 4:00. Pioneer Woman was able to not only secure permission for the event but also to begin placing caches on Birch Hill as long as we, cachers, adhere to some simple rules which mainly focus on interferring or damaging the winter ski trails and maintaining a single point of contact for placed caches. So Pioneer Woman and I went out and placed the first 8 caches today that will post on September 8 in time for the event.
If you are interested in placing caches on Birch Hill, our contact person has requested that you run those caches through me so they (Birch Hill) can maintain a single point of contact if any potential problems occur. Please don't in any fashion interpret this as "PedalPushin" or "Pioneer Woman" territory or anything resembling that. We, the caching community, are simply trying to follow some basic rules which will hopefully gain us, the caching community, more access to more areas in the future.
So ... September 8, 1:00-4:00 ... and there might just be an additional event starting at 8:00 pm that involves night caching concepts, techniques, and practice.

Another "event" is this weekend. Didn't want to start a new thread for just a quick heads up. This Sat the Girl & Boy Scouts are hosting a Trail Blazer Event. One of the activities is geocaching.

Update: Aug 26, 2007
Location: Birch Hill Recreation Area, Fairbanks, AK
Come one, come all ... there are now 13 caches placed in and around the Birch Hill complex. Some easy, some hard, some puzzles, some flat, some hilly, but all waiting to be found. Coordinates will be revealed at the event as well as on geocaching.com later that day if I can work those details exactly.
Look forward to seeing the Fairbanks cachers and sure hope some folks from Anchorage make the pilgrimage north.

Had a great turn out for the event cache this last Sat. Looking forward to the next event. Check out the waypoint GC14WPX. Here is a copy of an excerpt from Pedal Pushin log.
PedalPushin in for the event and fun! The final results were as follows:
27 caching teams represented 4 new cachers without geo-handles (yet) 65 total cachers in attendance (47 adults, 18 children) 1 team from Newfoundland 1 team from Delta 3 cachers from Ft. Greeley
... and lots of cachers from Fairbanks, North Pole, Ester, and Two Rivers!
