As posted on our Facebook Page this evening...
Would you like to get more involved with GeocacheAlaska!? Everything we do, from negotiating land use permits to organizing social and educational events to hosting CITO clean-ups to producing branded items such as coins and pathtags for fundraisers is done completely through the volunteer work of our membership. As with any volunteer-based club, the more hands to help, the easier the work load is on everyone. We value every bit of help at many levels of commitment.
We have a vacancy on our Board of Directors that needs filled. We have committees working on cacher recognition programs, organizing events, obtaining permits, and designing fundraiser items that could all use an extra hand or voice. Most of our planning work is done on our discussion forums, so you can participate on your own schedule. Log in for awhile in the evening to read through the discussion and contribute your own thoughts and ideas. It's really easy to do.
To see what's going on or to get started, just log into our discussion forums. Once there, you can read through the public committee boards located near the bottom of the main page. If you're interested in helping on a committee, it's as simple as opening your Profile, clicking on the Group tab, and clicking the request to join link next to the committee(s) of interest. The leader of that committee will approve your membership and give you access to a "hidden" forum board where the committee conducts business. You may request to join or leave a committee at any time.
We look forward to seeing some new volunteers stepping up to help out Alaska's state-wide geocaching organization!
