I recently left one of my mini pirate duckies "near" a well-hidden micro-to-small sized cache. He doesn't give the location away, but he just didn't quite fit the cache, itself. Is this a taboo? If it doesn't fit inside, do you just sign the logbook and call it a day? I sort of like how the pirate ducky is watching guard over the cache, but I certainly don't want to offend any creed.

Hey Toni, I think its cool, a little marker like that - but we will all know we are where you have been!
On the other hand, some folks may not want giveaways at their caches (I don't care, frankly) but some folks are real purists and don't even want hints. (gasp!)
When I first started caching, I saw somewhere a "don't do this" photo and it was a piece of survey flagging near a cache.
Time to start putting some of your own caches out.
My husband is continually leaving little army men and plastic people in wierd places all over town, but of course not marked by coordinates in any way, just little figures out there in the world, so personally, I think duckies in the woods are totally appropriate.

Cool. The location in question isn't at all compromised so I figured it was pretty safe. Thanks for the reply.

I am definitely not a "purist" - I use hints all the time, but I would want people not to place items next to my caches to keep the area around the cache from becoming littered. Caches have less environmental impact if they are contained. If it is not big enough I would save it for another cache.
