Is it considered a breach of geo-etiquette to purchase geocoins or travel bugs off of ebay for use in caches you wish to hide? Not looking to collect them for personal reasons, just to hide for others. And I would only purchase those that can be tracked through geocaching.com
Next question - is there a lot of "fakes" in geocoins and how can I tell authentic ones from something someone created to turn a quick buck? I don't want to hide geo-junk!

You can buy them anyplace! Try looking at oakcoins.com they sometimes have grab bags you can buy and get a lot of geo-bling including coins for caches pretty cheaply.
The only fake to me is when someone makes a paper copy of a coin and sends it on. I have had this happen to some of my coins I have let loose. There will be a comment on the coin log page - "I wish I could have seen the real coin" The coin or TB # is registered with geocaching.com so the coin/TB can look like just about anything. Even like something NorthWes would drive.

Hey - I was gonna buy a Jeep... but a new Nitro was all this CACHER could afford! aktraveler - I bought my first geocoins off eBay - nothing wrong with it in most cases (exceptions being where a coin that's not supposed to be sold, according to its 'maker', is sold on eBay - like Moun10Bike geocoins...). I happen to know a local cacher with an extensive collection of geocoins who's selling some of his extras - Scobey! Drop him an email - good selection & variety of stuff - no shipping! Instant gratification! New friend! Yeah!

There's really no need to pay more for coins via EBay. You can watch for new coin releases in the geocaching.com geocoin forum. You can also work directly with other cachers in the geocaching.com trading forum. I can vouch for Scobey's collection of spare coins for sale and you won't have to pay the typical EBay shipping rates if you deal with him. And, finally, in a shameless bit of self promotion for GeocacheAlaska!, check out what's for sale here.

Thanks everyone! Scobey, I will probably send you an email in a few days, but I am putting together my first cache so I will be looking for a FTF coin of some kind in you have any. I'll email you and tell you more.
Ladybug, oleruns, Norwes, thanks for your inputs as well! Sounds like I have some shopping to do! LOL!
