Wes Skinner (NorthWes) nominated for position of Secretary...
I've served GeocacheAlaska (GeAK) as a 'member at large' during 2010. My interest in serving on the board focuses on GeAK's mission to promote geocaching through education initiatives, represent geocaching interests in public forums and to recreation land managers, and to promote the "Cache In Trash Out" (CITO) program. These interests have to date been evident in my hosting/assisting at numerous events to educate cachers (new and experienced), participating in land manager interactions to secure the privilege to 'play' on public lands, and in hosting and hauling at CITO events. I'd like to continue developing GeocacheAlaska's success at these goals.

Michael Malvick (Ladybug Kids), nominated for position of WebmasterI wish to continue serving as the GeocacheAlaska! Webmaster to facilitate communication about all matters geocaching to the Alaskan geocaching community via the GeocacheAlaska! website, these forums, and direct e-mail. Frequent, rapid, and comprehensive communication between members is critical to the success of any organization. Additionally, creation and maintenance of a web-hosted knowledge base for Alaskan and visiting geocachers is important to help them stay abreast of land management issues, geocaching etiquette, geotechnology, upcoming events, and Alaskan geobling. I am a six-year Premium Member of Groundspeak and a Premium Member of GeocacheAlaska! My contributions to the geocaching community include placing and maintaining more than one-hundred caches, coordinating and underwriting eight geocoin and four geopin projects, co-moderating the GeocacheAlaska! forums since their inception, helping pioneer the WebEx distance learning Caching FUNdamentals series and serving on the steering committee that developed the initial GeocacheAlaska! by-laws. I have previous and current Director experience with the Alaska Dog Mushers Association (two years, one as Vice President), the Alaska Skijor and Pulk Association (eight years, Newsletter, Annual Program, and Website), and the Anchorage Skijor Club (two years, Treasurer). The variety of my experience makes it possible for me to fill most any need when it arises and to provide guidance where/when necessary. In August, I accepted Groundspeak's invitation to become the Volunteer Cache Reviewer for Alaska, performing the duty as "Greatland Reviewer." My role as a Groundspeak Volunteer Reviewer is separate from, but synergistic with the many hats I wear for GeocacheAlaska! A Volunteer Reviewer reviews submitted caches for compliance with Groundspeak's guidelines following a well-defined process. GeocacheAlaska!, on the other hand, is committed to geocacher education and land manager advocacy to assure access to state public lands for geocachers. I look forward to continuing to serve if selected by the GeocacheAlaska! membership. This statement of purpose was posted at the request of the Nominating Committee, which requested the same of all Board of Directors candidates.

Paul Miller (Capra Hircus) nominated for position of President ... My vocation is Project Management in the Energy Sector, primarily in the oversight of design and construction of new electricity generation (currently for Chugach Electric Association and Municipal Light & Power). My avocation on the other hand is farming! (Meat goats, of course!) In this I continue to remotely chair the Advisory Committee for Western Illinois University for genetic studies of meat goat breeds. I've been a Premium Member of GeocacheAlaska! since my arrival in Alaska in early 2009 and a Premium Member of Groundspeak since I began caching in 2008. I am currently serving in one of the 2010 Member at Large positions and chair the Education Committee. In 2010 we spearheaded the groundbreaking effort to establish statewide Eduvents for Alaskan geocachers and visitors to our state. My goals as President for GeocacheAlaska! in 2011 will include: - Establish a single point of contact for State of Alaska land management advocacy in seeking uniform guidelines for geocaching on public lands
- Triple the membership base with at least 40% of the increase originating from outside of the Anchorage area
- Achieve >90% membership renewal from 2010.
- Establish at least one new GeocacheAlaska! chapter under the guidelines of the by-laws.
- Expand sponsored CITO activities to include all state areas with active GeocacheAlaska! membership.
- Develop additional formal educational events concerning relevant aspects of geocaching in Alaska including recruitment and topics of interest for geocachers at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced level.
- Develop continuing fund raising activities in order to provide material support to enhance the geocaching experience in Alaska.
- Promote myriad social activities to increase interaction and communication of geocachers in Alaska.
If elected, I will strive to serve the Alaskan geocaching community in a manner that will enhance the geocaching experience for everyone!

Joe Edwards AKFossil While not one of the most gungho of cachers out there by far, I have used caching as a way to get out and about in Alaska, spend time with my son and just have a goodtime. I am currently serving as the 2010 Vice President of GeAK! Inc.
My goals are simple, support GeAK! Inc in all possible aspects while doing my best to ensure we do not become what some have dubbed the "Caching Police". Though being a positive force in the caching community can be a challenge, I hope with the help of members and the caching community we will be able continue to be a great source of information, education, and help whenever possible.
I see GeAK! Inc, as a organization invested in education and advocates for the sport as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with land managers to ensure our sport has the ability to continue and grow.

Joy Culberson (ak4me) nominated for position of member at large.
I continue to learn more and more about caching everyday. I have been caching since March 2008, when I drug Kmags out to help me find my first find. I have been addicted ever since. I may not be the cacher with the most finds, or the cacher with the most FTFs. Geocacahing for me is very much about the journey and the adventure. I have formed awesome friendships and been to places I never thought I would go. Geocaching gives me an excuse to get outdoors where I love to be. As time goes by, I understand the need for an organization like Geocache Alaska. And I would love to be able to serve on the Board as Member at Large.

Randy Cler (Cavyguy) Nominated for position Member at Large
I am retired Air Force and curently work for the state as an Electronics Technician. I live in the Valley and work in Anchorage. This give me the ability to have a perspective of both areas. I strongly believe in supporting the organizations I am a member of in any way I can. I try to attend most events and enjoy the hobby a lot. It has caused me to see places I would never have seen any other way no matter where I go. I think the educational thing we have done and hope to do are great for the beginners and veterans alike. It is also a great way to build friendships. I thanks those whose effort formrf thr organization and we need to ensure it stays moving forward. If elected I will do the best I can.

Scott Aleckson (SSO JOAT) nominated for Member at Large I've lived in Soldotna since 1978 and have worked on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline for the last 9 years. My current work location is the Valdez Terminal as a 2 week on 2 week off shift worker. My job is a Paramedic, but in the oil field it is so much more than that (it would take volumes to explain all the aspects of my position). Hence, I travel a lot. So much so that I can practically drive the 455-mile trip from Valdez to Soldotna blindfolded I started Geocaching in Valdez in the spring of 2008 as something to do in between work shifts to get me outdoors and moving around. It stuck and I've enjoyed it ever since, though I tend to remain a "casual cacher" with sporadic bursts of caching activity that usually occur in between work assignments or while traveling between work assignments. Back on my home turf in Soldotan, I tend to enjoy the hiding and especially puzzle building aspects. For the last year, I've served Geocache Alaska! as a member of the education committee and have helped develop the long-distance educational events that seem to be a very successful program. I've dedicated a lot of time and energy into this, as I do with everything I take ahold of. Serving the Board on a higher level would receive just as much energy where ever I can be of assistance. I would be honored to help move this organization forward. I've served on non-profit corporation boards in the past as I served a term as Treasurer and 2 terms as President of the "Emergency Services, Incorporated" board that was comprised of the volunteer firefighter organization for the Central Kenai Peninsula. This was back in the mid-90's. I've always enjoyed being of service to organizations like this, with the key being "service". I'm never one of those to say, "what's in it for me", but rather do things based on how it will benefit the organization and its members.
