I nominate NorthWes for a Member at Large position. I'm delighted to accept the nomination for one of the Member at Large positions. It's exciting to see the progress GeocacheAlaska! has made in its first year of incorporation and I'd like to be part of continuing to build on success. I've been a premium member of Geocaching.com for the past five years, placing a variety of caches throughout Anchorage, the Kenai peninsula and the Susitna valley. I enjoy cache placements which let me take the dogs out for a walk or take me to vistas that demand a photograph to capture the moment, but I'm just as likely to be seen logging a drive-up cache in town during a moment of opportunity as well. I've been privileged to travel quite a bit, and that's reflected in my caching style as just over half my finds are from over a thousand miles away from Anchorage. That's exposed me to many different 'styles' of hides, and convinced me that on the whole we do it as good or better than anywhere else right here in Alaska. My favorite category of cache to hunt is an earthcache, as they both educate me and bring me to a place of significant geological interest. Surprisingly, few local cachers are placing them, considering the wide variety of geological features we have here. I'm also nuts about benchmarks, with over 900 finds logged on geocaching.com (and many many more reported to the National Geodetic Survey). Benchmarks are enduring monuments which stake out a moment of history in a particular place and time - and are often a terrific geo-puzzle to solve when trying to find something placed fifty years ago or more with relatively vague coordinates and directions 'to find.' From 2005 to 2008 I made it a point to personally host at least four events (either social, training or CITO) a year. In 2009, as GeAK! began its formalization, I moved away from hosting events as other local members stepped up to continue legacy events and host CITO and more social events around southcentral Alaska. The social events help build networks of personal contacts, and give newer cachers an chance to ask questions face to face. In 2005 I hosted what I believe was the area's first formal CITO event at Kincaid Park, which led to the muni park folks asking me to teach an "Intro to Geocaching" community course in 2006. I've since done six more of those training events at park manager request. Anchorage print and TV media came out to see what caching was all about, and gave our game some very positive exposure. While some question the wisdom of teaching the community about a game whose very nature demands hiding from 'muggles', I believe it's more important to both teach "good manners" to new/potential cachers and to model stewardship of the city parks for the MOA Land Managers. Events are the social glue that cement our local caching community together, and there's some excellent organizers who've realized they have a knack for putting on a good time! Since I began caching I've realized the most critical element of our game is the ability to have space to play - places where we can place a container with land owner/manager permission (according to the geocaching.com guidelines, a necessary element of any cache placement). My work brings me into direct contact with Alaska land managers, from the city level across borough and state levels to the various federal agencies resident in Alaska. I began presenting geocaching as a favorite hobby while interacting with these land managers, and it's been a good opportunity to help introduce those folks to what the game's all about. Every land manager I've spoken with has already been exposed to geocaching through information handed down through land management journals, federal agency guidelines, or 'bad experiences' with caching which didn't tell the whole story. Maintaining access to land where we can place caches legally is one of the most fundamental tasks facing GeocacheAlaska! as a local organization. If elected I look forward to serving the goals of the organization tirelessly, helping to put Alaska's best geocaching foot forward for locals, land managers and visitors alike.

Hello cachers,
Thank you for the consideration in nominating me to spend another year working with the GeocacheAlaska board as a member at large.
Because I have enjoyed the past year serving as GeocacheAlaska Secretary and truly believe in this organization, I had a difficult decision to make. After much thought and careful deliberation, however, I have decided not to accept the nomination.
I wish GeocacheAlaska the best continued success in all its endeavors.
Thank you again for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Aaron "Tinman4x" Pfeil

I accept Ladybug Kids’ nomination to run for President of GeocacheAlaska! Inc. for a second term.
I have served as the President of GeocacheAlaska! Inc. for the past year as we have gone from an idea to a fledgling Alaskan not for profit organization and very soon to a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It has been an honor and a reward to serve as President and I would like to continue in the work that we have started.
I have served in many positions on Directory Boards for other organizations in the past. I served as President for two years for the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) Charter College Chapter, Member at Large and Professional Chapter Liaison for AITP #150 for two years. I currently hold the position of Webmaster for the Network Users Group Alaska (NUGA) and have held that position for the past four years. I have been self employed for the majority of my life along with maintaining a traditional job. I currently own my own company and maintain a civilian job. I have a strong work ethic and believe in following through.
I have been a Premium member of Groundspeak for a bit over three years now and am a Charter member GeocacheAlaska! Inc. I thoroughly enjoy the places this game\sport has taken me and the people I have met along the way are some of the best. I have learned more about my own back yard from this game than I have in the rest of the years I have been here. This sport has given a lot to me and I would like to put back into it something as consideration for the good times, great friends and incredible memories it has given me.
It would be a privilege to serve as the President of Geocache Alaska! Inc. again and I look forward to dedicating the time and energy to it if I am elected.
Thank you, FrostG1anT

As I accept the nomination for VP of GeocacheAlaska Inc, I would like to thank all members who I have come across during my adventures with geocaching and GeocacheAlaska for being the most friendly group of people out there whether its watching my son and I float down the river without the raft, talking me into just one more cache before heading home, or talking me into taking on Castle Mountain it has by far been quite the adventure so far and I look forward to more.
If elected I will put my best foot forward as VP of GeocacheAlaska! Inc.
Best Regards,
Joe "AKFossil"

Thanks for the nomination for Member at Large. I gladly accept.
There is no way that I can come close to giving back equal measure of what I have been gifted since my migration to Alaska, But this is certainly a way in which I can return a little. I'll be more than happy to assist in any way I can.
