This year's Fur Rondy Outhouse Races photo section (from last year) includes several of the intrepid Geocache Express team versus Lady Justice.
I know you retired the worn out sled from last year. Are there any plans for the team returning this year?

There had been plans to put a team together for this year, but they never came together. I unfortunately cannot be in the races this year due to other commitments at the same time (more Fur Rondy fun actually... across town at the AT&T Sports Pavilion in the O'Malley Center doors opening at 6:00 there will be another bout between the Dirty Polli's and the Sockeye Sally's with the National anthem followed by the starting whistle at 7:00. If you haven't seen the newest sporting sensation in Anchorage then head on over to the AT&T Sports Pavilion on February 28 at 6:00 and see the excitement of Alaskan roller derby. Tickets are available in advance for $12 and $15 at the door. It is sure to be a sell out crowd again and is high octane frenetic energy from beginning to end. Bring the whole family and discover a new local sport. You can get more information at : www.ragecityrollergirls.com ). The outhouse race will have a different course this year and there will be designated lanes (two) and two pylons at the end of the 75' strip so each team will circle their respective pylon going the opposite direction so as to avoid the near blood sport that was last years competition. It is a truly enjoyable event both as a spectator and a participant. Feel free to put a team together, there is still plenty of time to build a sled and get ready for the races. There is a mandatory meeting for teams at the University Center on Feb. 21 at 6pm. You can get more information at www.furrondy.net for all the Fur Rendezvous information or for the Outhouse Race application and information click here: www.furrondy.net/images/stories/2009-pdf/2009-outhouserace.pdf. All of the Fur Rondy events are fun and are a good way to get outside and enjoy winter. Summer is coming....just not soon enough...

I've begun some email discussion on just this topic,
I'd like to round up a team to make a stand and come back from last years near victory. Ole? MT? What say all you "in shape" types?
I can donate a bunch of materials, hardware, tools, and my garage to this great cause if we can put together a team.

I have a lot of interest....i might have to work. What day is the race?
I thought about stealing a certain geocache and racing it just for the fun pictures and suprise it would create. Now since I broadcasted that thought to the world I am not doing it. Keep me posted. ;D
As for the ice climbing/ acachraphobia trip, i am not sure what my work schedule is doing right now, they are jerking me around with it a little.

The guy's a pretty decent sprinter! Perfect for the Outhouse push.

The race is on the Feb 28th with a mandantory race meeting on the 21st.
Time is of the essence here, building the racer is the easy part, finding a team seems to be a little more difficult.

The guy's a pretty decent sprinter! Perfect for the Outhouse push. Uh - I went to high school near Dayton Ohio for a few years - and I played football. My high school letters in AK were earned in riflery (yeah - shooting at school). Sprinting today is restricted to mashing the snowmachine throttle, or risking a ticket in the NitroCACHER...

Due to lack of interest and conflicting schedules I need to bow out of this project.
I am still willing to provide some materials and design thoughts if anyone wants to take this up.
